The history of pop music shows that popular musicians have a tendency to die suddenly if they become politically awake and start using their poplarity as a platform for critisism of the powers that be.
The list of politically awake and perhaps therefore premature dead musicians include John Lennon (d. 1980), Michael Jackson (d. 2009 plus portmortem defamation), Prince (d. 2016), Chris Cornell (d. 2017) and Chester Bennington (d. 2017).
This is however not keeping and old veteran like Van Morrison (b. 1945) from releasing the new 2022 album What’s It Gonna Take including the hit song with the same name. Thank you, Van!
