As you may or may not know I consider myself a follower of Jesus Christ. But what does that actually mean?
Most phenomena are social constructs that change over time. That includes religion.
Original Christianity is whatever Jesus actually meant by his sayings, doings and teachings in Palestine 2000 years ago. You probably should have been there to truly grasp that.
Classic Christianity is the early Church from between the physical death of Jesus until the first Bible and the establishment of the Roman church. This seems to be a very mystic, gnostic, tantric, contemplative and personal approach to spirituality very much in line with Indian spiritual philosophy at the time.
Woke Christianity is the movement that transformed Christianity from spirituality to Roman state religion including Judaism and Zionism. It can be argued that Christianity since then has been operating as a vehicle for the global Roman empire through Christian Zionism and as a trojan horse for Judaism branding Jews as Gods Chosen People. It was a difficult task to censor Jesus but they succeeded in keeping complete gospels such as the Gospel of Thomas out of the Christian Bible to make space for the Jewish texts of The Old Testament.
Woke Christianity may have been the first woke movement in history showing that ‘woke’ in this context actually means spritual sleep. It probably still does today in other contexts.
Contemporary Christianity including Protestantism is still very much based on the Bible and very little on direct spiritual insight and political activism with Jesus as the role model.
In my opinion the Humans of the World desperately need to reawaken to the Original and Classic Christianity or any other spirituality that points to the same truths. This includes contemplation on Jesus Christ as The True Light and political activism in the real World against deception, oppression and injustice. In this respect we should be fearless about the risk of ending our lives on the Cross – literally or metaphorically. The reward is worth the pain and suffering!
